I picked green beans last night. We’re not about to go into the green bean business, but we do seem to be getting enough for dinner a couple of nights a week. There is something to be said for homegrown green beans, but they are nothing like homegrown tomatoes. (Feel free to Google the Guy Clark song if you please.) We will have plenty of them tomatoes here in a bit too. In fact, that’s pretty much the garden at this point.
The porch is also satisfyingly full at the moment. Driving through a hipper, more established neighborhood this morning, I was glad to see a porch that looked much like mine (making me hipper and more established by association.) The biggest drawback is that being on the porch ipso facto produces a barrier between myself and those who are inside. An open window goes a long way, but a screened door – or better yet a screened in porch – could remove that blockage. Another project to begin!
The bike project needs to be finished first, I do believe. There has been a lot of painting, but not much else. The painting is, I suppose, a necessary precursor to reassembly, yet this project has lingered for a while longer that any of us may have been comfortable with. It will be fun to be able to use the bike, but it will also be fun to have the mental space to start on a new project. Let’s get to that.
