This is just about the funniest thing I remember seeing on The Daily Show in a while. And I like The Daily Show. Most of what they do is funny, I think. Except when it’s serious, which is not funny. And not supposed to be funny. You know what else is not supposed to be funny? Being Chair of the Republican National Committee. Playing against type, Michael Steele was pretty funny as Republican Chair. Oooops! He’s not Chair anymore.
In Michael Steele’s defense, I don’t think he was trying to be funny. Nor do I think the Republican Party was trying to be funny in naming him Chair. Maybe somebody over there has a sense of humor, but I think for the most part the Republican part was at a loss as to how to respond to the election of 2008. Now that they have made a comeback, they know exactly what to do. Put a guy named Reince Priebus in the job. Seriously.
