Write on, write off

If someone offered me ten billion dollars for my company, I think I would take it.  Half that and I would probably still be good.  The first problem with this is, of course, I have no company. At least none of my own.  I do have an EIN and the forms to get a DBA.  I should probably fill that stuff out and write off the R2 unit as a business expense.

And then, of course, sell out to Google and get my $10bn.  Or 5.  I’m not greedy.  But then again the issue of my not being the head of my own company rears its ugly head.  I can kind of see not wanting to have my company be bought.  Look at what happened to Flip.  It’s not that it is a bad product or unprofitable.  It’s just not profitable enough for Cisco.  So buh bye then.  Who wants to see that happen to something they have built?

Not me, and certainly not you.  That’s why I think we are smart to keep working our day jobs and pouring our hearts into things that are not geared toward filthy lucre. It is a good rationalization anyway.  Maybe something useful and / or profitable will come out of it anyway.  Maybe but probably not.
