Now the Presbyterian Church has said that ministers who are not married do not need to remain celebate. This is being hailed as a great thing for gay people who want to be ministers, and it is. It is also a great leap forward for sluts. Not saying that gay people are sluts. Not all gay people. There are certainly some gay sluts. Also, don’t think for a second that I think all sluts are women. There are certainly some women sluts.
Not that I have met any. I only dated nice girls when I was single. That may explain why I almost became a minister. Now I would not even be qualified for the gig. That’s not the only loss to the college of presbyters. Let’s face it, all of the really good preaching gets conceived on Saturday night. Now all the single preachers will be out trying to conceive something other than a sermon on shabbos.
So the quality of preaching will go down and so will the preachers. BAD-DA-BOOM! Ok, preaching is hurt and the level of competition for the laity goes up. And we are not called the laity for nothing. It’s what we do. Do we come into the church and start transubstantiating shit? No we do not. We have spent the whole previous evening in the club trying do our thing. We expect you to do your thing. And if your thing is being in a committed same gender relationship, that’s cool too.
