From a little pile of clay

So, there were all sorts of videos I was ready to post. Tom Jones with Dusty Springfield. Tom Jones with Janis Joplin. Tom Jones with Aretha. They are all post-worthy, and maybe we will get there. But OH. MY. GOD. Tom Jones! Did you see that? Actually, no, you probably didn’t. I didn’t see it either because they would not show it on Japanese TV in 1974. I’m not sure they can show it on cable TV today. We used to make jokes about Tom Jones because everybody talked about how the ladies loved him. Um, I for one am no longer laughing.

That boy is raunchy. He’s also incredible. It’s not so much that Tom Jones owns that stage as that he owns the very air in the theater. Every man wants to be him and every woman wants to be with him. Ok, some men want to be the back up singers and some women want to be with the backup singers, but everybody wants some lovin’ after that performance. With every bit of respect due the King, Tom Jones is where Elvis wanted to be in the 70s.
