Most people are, I believe, well meaning when they ask, “How was your jog?” They do not know that this question is almost as offensive as “Is that a real bow tie?” Clip on ties and jogging are for children. Adults run and tie their own bow ties. One would not ask the Queen if her pearls were real, so why ask me about my “jogging?”
Except that this morning, it would have been entirely appropriate to ask about my jog. Having fallen back to sleep as I drank my second cup of coffee, I did not have high expectations for the perambulation. Still though, 3 1/4 miles in 30 minutes? That’s pretty damn slow. True, I ran on the Mountains to Sea trail yesterday afternoon, so I might have been somewhat tuckered out. 30 damn minutes though?
Credit where credit is due: I did it. Summer is not my favorite time to be running, what with the hotness and the humiditiness and what have you. The vehicular traffic also seems heavier given that the sun is up and all. I suppose people are getting work where and when they can no matter the effect on my running routine. Or jogging routine as the case may be. In any event, this is not the favored time of year to be doing this, so jogging is better than ditching it all together.
