Cut to the quick

I cut the stalk and watch as the life juice runs out of the veins.  This is a horrible business, even though I know that zuchini plant has it coming.  Then again, I knew what it was when I planted it. Still, it’s crowding out the butternut squash and the cilantro, so the damn thing has to learn.

There has been plenty o’ trimming and precious little fruit from that one so far.  As a matter of fact, for all it’s fecundity, these 16 square feet of garden haven’t shown me shiz yet in terms of produce.  Perhaps it is early. Perhaps I need to be patient. Perhaps it would be a good idea to not cut a vine heavy with tomato child off of the plant.

That actually happened.  Whoops!  Next thing you know, I’ll be snipping one of those precious little cukes off.  The hippies out in SFO will have a lot more than Mohels to worry about then.  In the meantime I will do my best to enjoy the wait and the anticipation of the delicious sandwich yet to be enjoyed.
