When the wise men had departed, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and said, “Get up, take the child and his mother, and flee to Egypt, and remain there until I tell you; for Herod is about to search for the child, to destroy him.” Then Joseph got up, took the child and his mother by night, and went to Egypt, and remained there until the death of Herod. This was to fulfill what had been spoken by the Lord through the prophet, “Out of Egypt I have called my son.” – Matthew 2:13-15
I’m way overthinking the song above, but it once got into my head that this was a song about the flight of the Holy Family into Egypt. Now I can’t get that idea out of my head. Something about Joseph shooting up an ATM to get money for him and Mary and Jesus to go down to Egypt sounds pretty great. Plus Joseph thinks he’s on some kind of grand adventure and Mary is all like “Ahem! Over here? Son of God? Dirty diapers?”
Like it wasn’t them at all, just life that was mean.
Maybe you don’t hear it in the song, which is fine, but give it a shot. There wasn’t a decent version of this particular song on YouTube, so I uploaded the version here. The images really don’t have a major significance. They are just something to look at while you listen.
