I was listening to Green Day today. Do you remember Green Day? Were you alive in the 90’s? (I don’t think there is an apostrophe in 90s. People just do that shit without even thinking.) Who am I kidding? Of course you were alive in the 90’s (sic)! Its not as if this blog is so cool as to have follower who are under 12. But you could be 22 and have been born in 1990. Suck on that for a moment.
Done? OK, so I was listening to Green Day and mowing the lawn of my suburban home. True, Altamont is not such a big urb to have truly gained a lot of suburbs, but we get pretty close out here in the land of the Suwaree. Its ironic because the song was about the frustration and spiritual death of growing up in the suburbs. I made a big deal of thinking that was me when I was a kid. Probably the only thing that really is true is the extent to which I found that same solutions as the protagonist of “Longview.”
The funny thing is that I think a little house in the suburbs with a neatly trimmed yard and a decent amount of bandwidth is just the thing. So much so that I’ll spend all day busting my hump my hump my hump to cut, trim, weed, and mulch the whole ranch. Of course, if things work out like I plan then I won’t have to do this particular job again for a while. Still, I have to figure out what to do about all these ants.
